INDIANAPOLIS — The Indianapolis metropolitan area's technology sector added 8,400 jobs in 2024, a growth rate of 11.2 percent that placed the city among the top five Midwest metros for tech job creation, according to data compiled by the Indy Chamber's economic research division.

The growth was driven by expansions at established tech employers including Salesforce, which added 600 positions at its Indianapolis office after completing its Tower renovation; Infosys, which reached its long-term Indianapolis headcount target of 3,000 employees; and Angi, the home services marketplace that has made Indianapolis its technology headquarters with a workforce now exceeding 1,800 local employees.

Homegrown growth has been equally impressive. Indianapolis-based technology companies collectively added approximately 3,100 jobs in 2024, led by health tech firm Springbuk, insurance technology company CoverWallet, and logistics software provider Rose Rocket.

"What we're seeing is the compounding effect of a decade of deliberate investment in tech ecosystem development," said Indy Chamber President and CEO Michael Huber. "The talent pipeline from IUPUI, Purdue Polytechnic, and the Eleven Fifty Academy is producing graduates who are choosing to stay in Indianapolis. That's a fundamental shift."

Wage Growth

Median annual wages for technology workers in the Indianapolis metro area reached $87,400 in 2024, up from $79,200 in 2022. While still below coastal tech hub benchmarks, Indianapolis's lower cost of living makes the effective purchasing power of these salaries highly competitive, a factor analysts cite in the metro area's growing ability to attract workers from Chicago, Columbus, and other Midwest cities.
