Salesforce Tower Expansion Adds 12 New Floors, Redefines Indianapolis Skyline

INDIANAPOLIS โ€” The Salesforce Tower, already Indianapolis's tallest building at 49 stories and 811 feet, is undergoing a $180 million expansion that will add 12 floors of new office and amenity space, cementing the structure as a symbol of Indianapolis's emergence as a major corporate center.

Salesforce, which acquired naming rights to the building formerly known as Chase Tower in 2017, has committed to occupying the expansion floors as part of a long-term lease agreement with building owner Kite Realty Group Trust, adding approximately 1,200 additional Salesforce employees to its Indianapolis workforce over the next five years.

The expansion will also add a public observation deck at the 60th floor โ€” the highest public vantage point in Indiana โ€” along with a restaurant managed by the group behind several acclaimed Indianapolis dining venues and a conference center available for public and private event booking.

"This expansion is a statement about Indianapolis," said Salesforce EVP Chris Whitaker, who oversees the company's Indianapolis operations. "The talent here, the culture here, the city we've grown to call home โ€” we're making a long-term bet on this place."

Construction Impact

The expansion construction, expected to take 30 months, will require temporary modifications to street access on Illinois Street and Market Street during the installation of the tower addition. Hundreds of construction workers will be employed during the project, with preference given to union contractors and workers certified through the Indiana Building Trades Council.
